Whilst using glass as her main medium Griet's work is undergoing a clear shift, forming collaborations with artists from other disciplines as well as scientists, installations as opposed to single pieces of work and explorations with sound are very much part of her current practice.
The content of the work however remains constant, a keen interest in the experience of spaces, both inside and outside the body: seen and unseen. She currently works from her studio in Leeds (UK) run by East Street Arts.
Griet gained her MA in Glass at the National Glass Center, University of Sunderland, UK. There she was able to experiment and explore the characteristics of glass and what they could mean to her practice in the company of many national and international artists.
She has gone on to exhibit at the International Glass Biennale in Stourbridge, has added her piece ‘Group’ to an important glass collection in the North East, and was asked to submit a piece for the SOFA exhibition in New York in April 2009.
During 2015 her practice evolved to include collaborative installations, a connection formed by moving her workspace to Patrick Studios Leeds lead to a number of installations experimenting with the fusion of glass making and digital technology. A variety of self directed projects and commissions such as 'the glass cyphers' and 'Kinetic Flux' are continuing the exploration into the experience of spaces.
